Our Signature Moment

Every Team, Every Season, has that one special opportunity to have their signature moment. What exactly is a signature moment you may ask? Well, it comes in the most important part of the season, the moment that will define the remainder of your season. For our Trinity Tiger football family it comes this Saturday, October 23rd against DePauw University.

There are many pieces to our season that makes this the HUGE game that it is. First of all it is homecoming weekend here at Trinity, which means that it is Alumni weekend. The stands will be packed from both sides as this is the biggest rivalry game we have here on campus. Also, DePauw comes into this game at a solid 6-0 and a ranking in the top 25 in DIII football. They have the top offense and defense in our Conference; it may appear like a David vs. Goliath type of matchup. We have had a down season here at Trinity so far; we are only 3-3 and have played very inconsistent football. However, this game on Saturday is our Conference Championship, our Super bowl, our Signature Moment. Outside of the members of the team no one gives us a chance. We know that we are going to beat DePauw; we know that we are going to play consistent football and most importantly we know that we are going to have our signature moment Saturday and end the season on a strong 4 game winning streak!

Come out and support us on Saturday, Oct 23rd at 130 PM as we go for our signature moment against DePauw University!

Adversity

What exactly is Adversity? In the dictionary it is defined as a catastrophe, disaster or trouble. Our football season had faced major adversity in the early part of our season. After winning our season opener in a thrilling double overtime classic, we had lost two in a row at home, something that hasn’t happened in over 20 years here at Trinity. The team morale was a bit shaken but never broken. It was simple now, the only way to salvage the season was to toughen up, win out and show every team we played for the rest of the season that we were going to fight for the full 60 minutes.

Going into Our fourth game we were now 1-2 and desperately needed a win in the upcoming game against Birmingham Southern College. We had our toughest week of practice, in preparation for a huge game. This was yet another game where we faced adversity. It was our first away game of the season and over 30% of the traveling team was making their first ever college football road trip. After a phenomenal week of practice we were ready to travel to Alabama and get back on the winning track. The trip itself even caused our team distractions and adversity. We stayed at the same hotel that a bunch of sororities that were from the University of Florida were also staying at. Saturday, October 2nd at 12 PM we kicked off against BSC and got a victory to bring us back to .500 at 2-2.

When faced with adversity we responded at got a victory. The character of our team has been formed and we are now stronger then we have been all year. Getting better each week, we have a mission now to win out and end the season at 8-2, with a spot in the playoffs and a conference championship! Our next game is At Texas Lutheran University this Saturday, October 9th.
